Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)

Iredell-Statesville identifies and serves advanced learners across K–12 through differentiated plans, enrichment, acceleration, and advanced coursework.

How services work: Identified students receive Differentiated Education Plans, with school-based enrichment and advanced learning complemented by Credit by Demonstrated Mastery and secondary advanced-course options.

How students are identified: The district combines ability, achievement, grades, and alternative evidence through point-based K–2 and grades 3–12 pathways. All third-graders receive a CogAT universal screen, and students have multiple opportunities for identification.

Mooresville City Schools

Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)

Mooresville Graded School District uses universal screening, continuing data monitoring, open referral, enrichment trials, and multiple identification pathways for advanced learners.

How services work: Services include elementary gifted clusters, specialist co-teaching, enrichment blocks, compacting, subject or grade acceleration, middle-school honors, high-school advanced and AP courses, Credit by Demonstrated Mastery, and dual enrollment.

How students are identified: All second-graders receive CogAT screening, while recurring literacy, mathematics, EOG or EOC, and later EVAAS data identify additional candidates. Staff, families, and students may refer, and teams combine aptitude, achievement, rating scales, environmental context, and learner evidence.
