Choose the window that matches the child's grade and enrollment status; a student may be referred during only one referral period each year.
Obtain the current referral and permission packet from the campus counselor, complete the parent survey and return every required page by the closing date because late forms are not accepted.
Use the parent survey to describe observable examples of flexible problem solving, originality, curiosity, rapid learning and advanced ideas; let the child answer the student-response prompts in the child's own words.
Ask the counselor for the campus testing date and whether the child will take CogAT or Naglieri in the applicable cycle.
Request the screening result, any Phase II evidence, the committee's written decision and the date the result letter should arrive.
After placement, confirm the exact homeroom differentiation, weekly elementary pull-out, daily middle-school advisory or high-school Honors, AP and dual-credit schedule.
If the family disputes the process, begin with the campus or responsible administrator and preserve the written Level One and later appeal instructions from the district grievance page.
