The 2026-27 new-student referral window runs August 31-September 11. CogAT testing follows September 14-25, committee meetings run October 14-21, result letters go home October 26 and services begin October 27-29.

The district asks families to begin with informal resolution through the campus or responsible administrator. Unresolved matters may proceed to a formal Level One parent complaint and later appeal; Waller does not publish a separate gifted-placement reconsideration deadline.

A parent or guardian must sign the referral and permission form, complete the parent survey and return the packet to the school counselor by the applicable closing date; late forms are not accepted. The 2026-27 timeline uses a full-battery CogAT for the two Grades 1-11 cycles and a full-battery Naglieri assessment for kindergarten. The district identification committee reviews the results and sends a written decision home.
Published modelKindergarten students receive daily differentiation in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies by March 1. Grades 1-5 receive at least 45 minutes of pull-out service each week. Grades 6-8 receive daily pull-out service during advisory, and Grades 9-12 receive daily Honors, Advanced Placement or dual-credit service.
