Return the official reconsideration form with supporting evidence to the Director of Advanced Academic Services within ten business days of the notification letter's postmark. The advisory committee decides within 30 days and sends notice within one week; its decision is final.

How students are considered
Published processThe record may include teacher, parent and Grades 3-12 student questionnaires, portfolios, teacher observations, school ability or IQ evidence, achievement scores, state tests, grades and other appropriate measures. A trained committee of at least three district educators makes the final qualification decision through a blind process. The district states that the preponderance of evidence should be at or above national norms.
What service can look like
Published modelIdentified students in Grades 1-5 are placed in specialized gifted cluster classrooms and attend weekly pull-out enrichment: 1.5-2 hours for Grades 1-3 and 2-3 hours for Grades 4-5. Kindergarten students identified by March 1 receive classroom differentiation for the rest of the year and begin pull-out in Grade 1. Secondary students use the district's advanced academic and college-level course pathways; families should confirm the specific campus schedule.

01Submit the current district recommendation form during the September 1-October 15 window and keep the confirmation.
02For kindergarten, confirm that the child will participate in January universal screening and ask when parent permission and results will be sent.
03Use the parent questionnaire and portfolio to provide concrete examples of advanced reasoning, creativity, rapid learning and sustained interests; secondary students should complete their student questionnaire carefully.
04Request the complete qualitative and quantitative evidence reviewed by the blind committee, including ability or IQ, achievement, state-test, grade, observation and questionnaire evidence that applies to the child.
05If seeking reconsideration, obtain the official form immediately and submit superior-ability evidence within ten business days of the notification letter's postmark.
06After placement, confirm the elementary cluster teacher and weekly pull-out hours or the student's exact middle- or high-school advanced course sequence.
