02

How students are considered

Published processThe district accepts referral forms and combines teacher observation, a primary-language or nonverbal assessment and a Student Profile Matrix. A trained committee reviews quantitative and qualitative evidence holistically; two scores at or above the 97th percentile trigger automatic placement consideration. Notice is sent by mail and an appeal is due within fifteen business days.

03

What service can look like

Published modelKindergarten begins one hour weekly on March 1; Grades 1-2 receive one hour weekly; Grade 3 attends Monday and Grades 4-5 attend two days weekly at Walker. Middle and high school students use differentiated GT, advanced, AP and IB pathways.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01Use the correct grade-banded referral form and submit it by September 24, 2026 or January 20, 2027 as applicable.
02Because the district page contains a January 20/21 conflict, request written confirmation of the spring cutoff before submitting.
03Ask which test date and location applies and retain the appointment confirmation.
04Provide specific examples for the teacher-observation and qualitative portions of the Student Profile Matrix.
05Request every score, the completed matrix and the committee's written decision when notice arrives.
06If appealing, file within fifteen business days and state the evidence or procedural issue clearly.
07Confirm the child's elementary ALPHA schedule or the secondary GT, Advanced, AP or IB course placement.
