02

How students are considered

Published processA parent, guardian, peer, or teacher may refer a student once per year. NWEA MAP universally screens Grades K-8. The trained placement committee considers nationally normed achievement and ability tests, a teacher rating scale, a parent questionnaire, and anecdotal evidence; students are identified for general intellectual ability in K-1 and specific academic strengths beginning in Grade 3.

03

What service can look like

Published modelKindergarten students receive differentiated learning, flexible grouping, and acceleration in cluster classrooms. Grades 1-8 place identified students with G/T-trained cluster teachers for differentiated core instruction. Secondary students also use advanced coursework and are encouraged to select advanced classes in their identified strength areas.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01Attend or review the district's September parent assessment meeting before the October referral window.
02Submit the online referral between October 1 and 31, or return the paper form to the campus front office; keep confirmation.
03Complete the parent questionnaire with concrete examples of advanced reasoning, curiosity, creativity, research, and sustained interests.
04Expect November-through-January testing and ask for the nationally normed achievement, ability, teacher-scale, questionnaire, and MAP evidence used.
05Watch the family email account on March 10 for the determination and request the written score record.
06If identified, confirm the child's strength area, trained cluster teacher, differentiated service plan, and following-fall start; use the published appeal route if disputing a final decision.
