02

How students are considered

Published processThe district begins universal consideration in kindergarten. Each January, staff reviews data, recruits candidates and seeks parent permission before campus teams evaluate students. Academic criteria include the 90th percentile or higher on a state-approved achievement test, the 90th percentile or higher on a state-approved ability test, and parent and teacher surveys.

03

What service can look like

Published modelAcademically gifted students receive differentiated instruction with greater depth and complexity at their current campus from trained teachers. Identification may be in mathematics and science, English language arts and social studies, or both. Separate talented art and music processes should not be confused with academic G/T identification.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01Ask the campus G/T contact whether the child is included in universal consideration and whether a separate family referral is useful.
02Complete parental permission and surveys promptly when the campus begins its January review.
03Provide specific observations of advanced mathematics, science, language arts or social-studies reasoning so the evidence matches the possible identification area.
04Request the exact ability and achievement tests, percentile results and parent and teacher survey ratings used by the campus team.
05Compare the quantitative results with the district's published 90th-percentile thresholds and request the written decision.
06After placement, confirm the identified subject area, trained teacher and how depth and complexity will be delivered at the child's campus.
