Published coverageK-12
Published processThe district begins universal consideration in kindergarten. Each January, staff reviews data, recruits candidates and seeks parent permission before campus teams evaluate students. Academic criteria include the 90th percentile or higher on a state-approved achievement test, the 90th percentile or higher on a state-approved ability test, and parent and teacher surveys.
Published modelAcademically gifted students receive differentiated instruction with greater depth and complexity at their current campus from trained teachers. Identification may be in mathematics and science, English language arts and social studies, or both. Separate talented art and music processes should not be confused with academic G/T identification.
