01

Who and which grades

Published coverageK-12: Quest in Grades K-4 and subject-specific G/T classes in Grades 5-12

02

How students are considered

Published processA parent, guardian or teacher may refer any student. A trained district screening committee reviews multiple qualitative and quantitative measures using a preponderance of evidence; no single score guarantees or prevents placement. Middle- and high-school assessment may include CogAT and ITBS plus additional data. Kindergarten observation alone does not start testing, so a formal parent referral is required.

03

What service can look like

Published modelQuest provides K-4 pull-out learning in problem solving, creativity, research, inquiry and advanced products. In Grades 5-12, students receive subject-specific advanced classes in identified areas such as English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies, with increased depth, pace and complexity.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01Use the grade-specific current referral form; kindergarten families should not assume teacher observation automatically begins testing.
02Submit by the published deadline and save the form receipt or dated copy.
03Describe concrete examples of advanced reasoning, creativity, depth and subject-specific need; do not coach for CogAT or ITBS because the district provides no required preparation materials.
04Ask which qualitative and quantitative evidence will be included and request the complete profile after the committee decision.
05If appealing, act within ten business days and tie the request to one of the district's three stated grounds.
06After placement, confirm the Quest pull-out schedule in K-4 or the exact identified subjects and advanced courses in Grades 5-12.
