02

How students are considered

Published processParents, teachers, counselors and other interested people may submit the district referral form to the campus office or G/T coordinator. After written family consent, the district builds a profile from at least three criteria, which may include CogAT reasoning, MAP achievement, Torrance creative thinking, a portfolio with at least three samples and other appropriate measures. A trained campus committee reviews the complete profile and sends written results.

03

What service can look like

Published modelBrownsboro modifies curriculum depth, complexity and pace across the four core subjects. K-6 students attend a regular pull-out class for 90-120 minutes each week and may work with same-grade or adjacent-grade gifted peers. Grades 7-12 receive differentiated instruction from G/T-trained teachers through Honors, AP and Dual Credit courses in their strength areas.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01Before September or January, request the current referral closing date and referral form from the campus G/T coordinator.
02Submit the referral to the campus office and retain a dated copy; complete written testing consent when requested.
03Prepare at least three authentic work samples showing advanced reasoning, originality, subject mastery or unusually sophisticated products.
04Ask which profile measures will be used for the child's grade and how CogAT, MAP, Torrance, portfolio and any campus-selected evidence are weighted.
05Request the written committee decision and complete score profile after the December or May review.
06If appealing, write first to the campus selection committee. If placed, confirm the weekly K-6 pull-out schedule or the exact Grades 7-12 Honors, AP or Dual Credit service plan.
