Published processA parent, teacher, administrator, counselor, peer, student or another knowledgeable person may refer a student in writing to the campus G/T contact. Screening uses five qualitative and quantitative criteria, including parent checklists, nonverbal and intelligence measures, creative-thinking tests and standardized achievement tests. Students who advance complete two rounds, and a district identification committee makes placement recommendations from the ranked matrix.
Published modelSEARCH serves identified K-4 students through weekly pull-out instruction: kindergarten receives about 30-45 minutes, Grades 1-3 about 90 minutes and Grade 4 about 120 minutes. Work includes Texas Performance Standards Projects and independent investigation. Grades 5-8 receive subject-area advanced instruction and a vertically accelerated mathematics pathway; Grades 9-12 use Honors, AP and Dual Credit courses.
