01Contact the campus G/T contact and request the current parent referral form plus exact screening dates; submit the referral in writing and retain a dated copy.
02Complete the parent checklist with specific examples of advanced verbal or nonverbal reasoning, creativity, rapid learning and subject strengths.
03Ask which five criteria apply to the child's grade, which measures are used in Round 1 and Round 2, and how points appear on the selection matrix.
04Watch for the notice between testing rounds and the final written decision; request the underlying percentile, rating and matrix results.
05If appealing, submit the request in writing and identify the specific score, irregularity or new evidence the committee should review.
06For placement, document weekly SEARCH minutes in K-4 or the student's exact subject-area, accelerated-mathematics, Honors, AP or Dual Credit path in Grades 5-12.
