How students are considered

Published processK-2 uses i-Ready, reading levels, Big Ideas, observation, and writing or math tasks. Grades 3-5 add end-of-Grade-2 CogAT and later NJSLA. Grades 6-8 use LinkIt or i-Ready, end-of-Grade-5 CogAT, NJSLA, reading data and GPA; Honors and accelerated mathematics use separate tests and course evidence.

What service can look like

Published modelK-2 receives daily classroom differentiation and H.A.M.S.T.E.R. critical-thinking experiences. Grades 3-5 add scheduled sessions with a gifted teacher. Grades 6-8 add accelerated and Honors courses built on compacting and acceleration plus scheduled gifted sessions.

01Ask for the grade-specific beginning-of-year review calendar and every required measure.
02Request the child's i-Ready or LinkIt, reading, Big Ideas, performance-task, CogAT, NJSLA, GPA, observation, and placement results as applicable.
03Within 30 days of results, email the gifted teacher to discuss any missing evidence or service mismatch.
04If unresolved, appeal by email within the next 14-day window and retain proof of delivery.
05Track the 15-day scheduling, 30-day conference, and 24-hour post-conference decision commitments.
06If admitted, confirm daily differentiation, gifted-teacher sessions, or accelerated/Honors placement and continuation expectations.
