How students are considered
Published processKindergarten receives a universal screening assessment before the school year. Grades 1-8 receive LinkIt benchmark screening during the first 30 days. Exceptionally high screening or teacher or parent nomination can trigger additional review using NJSLA and KBIT; the district notifies families whether or not the child qualifies.
What service can look like
Published modelK-2 gifted support is integrated into regular academics. Beginning in Grade 3, identified students receive pull-out alongside G&T-specialist and classroom-teacher collaboration; additional field trips, assemblies, speakers, and schedule accommodations may be added as needed. Services continue yearly after identification and acceptance.

02Request the universal-screening report and the threshold that triggers additional data collection.
03If needed, submit written parent nomination to the published K-4 or 5-8 G&T specialist and retain acknowledgment.
04Request any NJSLA, KBIT, LinkIt, rating, and committee evidence plus the written eligibility result.
05If admitted, confirm integrated versus pull-out delivery, frequency, schedule accommodations, modifications, and annual continuation.
06For a statutory compliance issue, write to the Board office and state the exact process or service obligation at issue.
