Little Egg Harbor annually evaluates K-6 students for STEP using a detailed multi-measure matrix. Grades 1-6 families are notified by mid-September and Kindergarten families by late February; students may qualify in ELA, math, cross-curricular learning, or more than one area.

Published processK-2 evidence includes DIBELS mClass, i-Ready mathematics and ELA, Habits of Success, KBIT-II, Raven's nonverbal screener, and teacher recommendation. Grades 3-6 add report cards, ELA LinkIt, and NJSLA for Grades 4-6. Students are evaluated every year.
Published modelSTEP uses push-in, pull-out, and schoolwide enrichment. K-2 focuses on project learning such as coding, engineering, writing and gardening. Grades 3-6 add novel studies, competitions, logic, poetry and strategy; Grade 5 includes Peer Buddies and Grade 6 builds a portfolio for later GATE applications.
