How students are considered
Published processTeachers, administrators, and instructional staff review reading performance, NJSLA mathematics, ELA and science, district benchmarks and local assessments, teacher recommendation, parent recommendation, and relevant outside performance evidence. The district explicitly recognizes subject-specific and twice-exceptional giftedness.
What service can look like
Published modelIdentified students typically extend learning through their strengths, interests, advanced projects, or creative work. Board policy also allows differentiated instruction, acceleration, flexible pacing, compacted curriculum, distance learning, advanced classes, pull-out, and an individual program documented in the student's record.

01At the beginning of the year, ask the teacher or curriculum office to open a gifted review and acknowledge the request.
02Submit concise evidence of advanced reading, mathematics, ELA, science, creativity, or another subject need, including outside evidence where relevant.
03Request all NJSLA, benchmark, local-assessment, recommendation, and performance evidence considered and the comparison method.
04Explain any twice-exceptional profile or access issue that could mask ability and ask how it is handled.
05If identified, obtain the specific modification—pace, compacting, advanced class, project, pull-out, or individual plan—and its progress measure in writing.
06For concerns, contact the district's named curriculum administrator and distinguish an eligibility disagreement from a statutory noncompliance complaint.
