Published coverageK-3 enrichment; Grades 3-6 pull-out; Grades 7-12 Scholars' Academy
Published processElementary students take CogAT in fall of Grade 3; the district then reviews a writing sample, beginning-year reading and mathematics tests, prior report-card information, guided reading, and teacher recommendation. Later elementary referrals may come from teachers. Any student may apply to Scholars' Academy; the strongest applications reach a placement test, and current and prior grades combine with test performance for seat-limited selection.
Published modelAll K-3 students participate in an enrichment cycle emphasizing critical thinking and creative problem solving. Identified Grades 3-6 students receive twice-weekly project-based pull-out. The Scholars' Academy spans Grades 7-12 through Honors and AP teachers and can lead to college-level coursework in Grades 11-12.
