How students are considered
Published processAnnual review covers students already served and those not yet identified. The rubric combines CogAT or other standardized screening, a teacher-completed gifted behavior checklist, NJSLA, report-card and classroom performance, and an optional parent nomination packet. Composite scores are compared within the grade, and roughly the top 10% qualify.
What service can look like
Published modelThe district offers pull-out programs, subject-based enrichment, schoolwide learning experiences, and classroom differentiation. Eligibility indicates that the regular curriculum does not fully meet the student's need, so families should seek a specific service and learning plan rather than only the gifted label.

04Ask how the child's composite compared with the local grade-level eligibility range without requesting another student's information.
05If eligible, obtain the specific pull-out, subject, schoolwide, or classroom service, its schedule, goals, and progress measures.
06If questions remain, request a rubric and score explanation from gifted staff, then contact the department supervisor with the precise evidence or process issue.
