How students are considered
Published processThe K-6 matrix can use SAGES, grade-specific ELA and mathematics criteria, standards-based LAL and mathematics report-card results, DRA reading level, performance criteria, and teacher recommendation. Teachers may nominate students missed by preliminary screening, and a student with relevant behavioral characteristics may be considered with teacher, parent, and administrator input.

Published modelK-6 enrichment focuses on individualized opportunities that apply foundational skills through innovative, creative, and critical thinking. Grades 7-12 receive extended opportunities through Honors or AP courses and differentiation within regular classes.

01Ask when the child's grade will be screened and request the current K-6 identification matrix before decisions are made.

03If preliminary screens miss the child, ask the teacher to submit the additional-screening nomination described by the district.
04Document behavioral characteristics, interests, and work products that may support inclusive committee consideration.
05If denied, ask for the evidence used and contact the curriculum director when new benchmark or standardized scores become available.
06For Grades 7-12, map Honors and AP prerequisites early and confirm the course-recommendation timeline with counseling.
