Galloway uses K-3 Primary Enrichment, a Grades 4-6 GEM matrix reviewed twice each year, and subject-specific acceleration in Grades 7-8. New students can be reviewed off-cycle, and all participants are reassessed annually.

How students are considered
Published processPEP considers districtwide PETS plus advanced vocabulary and speaking, connecting ideas, written expression, creativity, benchmarks, number sense, mathematical discussion, spatial reasoning, logic, interest, and pre-assessment. Grades 4-6 GEM uses a matrix of available standardized assessments, report-card indicators or grades, and benchmark assessments. That matrix is reviewed semiannually, with off-cycle review for new students and annual reassessment.
What service can look like
Published modelK-3 PEP provides flexible small-group enrichment. Grades 4-5 GEM integrates STEM, humanities, social sciences, writing, problem solving, and creative and critical thinking. In Grade 6, GEM replaces the regular social-studies course while covering required standards through deeper projects, research, and discovery. Grades 7-8 use subject-specific acceleration.

01For K-3, ask how the PETS assessment and the child's language, creative, reasoning, math, and classroom evidence affect PEP grouping.
02For Grades 4-6, request the standardized, report-card, and benchmark entries in the current GEM matrix.
03Confirm the dates of both matrix reviews and when families receive written decisions.
04If newly enrolled, request off-cycle review immediately and provide prior-school records that show advanced need.
05Ask whether the placement is PEP, Grades 4-5 integrated GEM, Grade 6 replacement social studies, or Grades 7-8 acceleration.
06Because students are reassessed annually, request the continuation criteria and progress evidence before the year ends.
