How students are considered

Published processFor K-2, a teacher recommendation score of at least 60 identifies a need for classroom differentiation. For Grades 3-8, a matrix combines teacher recommendation, SAGES-3, and spring benchmark performance; Strongly Recommended and Mostly Recommended profiles qualify, while lower matrix profiles may receive case-by-case consideration. Comparable prior-school measures may be used for new students.

03

What service can look like

Published modelK-2 students identified through teacher evidence receive differentiated curriculum in the classroom. Identified Grades 3-8 students receive both classroom differentiation and two weekly periods with the gifted resource teacher for thematic, cross-curricular, project-based problem solving and critical thinking. Grade 8 Algebra I is a separate acceleration route.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01For K-2, request the completed teacher recommendation form and confirm whether the score reaches the published 60-point threshold.
02For Grades 3-8, ask for each matrix component: teacher recommendation, SAGES-3, and spring benchmark performance.
03Before June, verify which spring benchmark will be used and when the identification committee will meet.
04If the child is new or missed June review, ask the teacher to use the November nomination window and provide comparable prior-school evidence.
05After placement, confirm the two-period weekly resource schedule and the classroom differentiation plan.
06For Grade 8 Algebra I, request the separate math evidence review; gifted identification alone does not establish accelerated placement.
