East Brunswick publishes exact 2026-27 Naglieri windows for universal screening in Kindergarten, Grade 2, and Grade 4. Local school-and-grade norms select the top five percent for weekly pull-out, while a year-round teacher inventory adds achievement, classroom, and work evidence.

How students are considered
Published processFor 2026-27, Grade 4 takes verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative Naglieri; Grade 2 takes verbal and nonverbal; Kindergarten takes verbal. Students in the top five percent of their school and grade qualify for Tier 2, and the very top of Grade 4 may receive Tier 3 in Grades 5-6. The ongoing Gifted Identification Inventory permits any teacher, including specials, to add academic achievement, classroom performance, work samples, and observations; a student is not automatically excluded for missing the Naglieri cut score.
What service can look like
Published modelAll K-6 students receive Tier 1 whole-class gifted lessons. Students identified through local norms and multiple evidence receive weekly Tier 2 pull-out; selected identified Grades 5-6 students receive an additional weekly Tier 3 session. Grades 7-12 use electives, Honors, AP, clubs, leadership activities, contests, and independent study under separate course-selection rules.

03Ask whether the year-round Gifted Identification Inventory includes classroom achievement, performance, work samples, or observations that alter the decision.
04For Grade 4, distinguish Tier 2 eligibility from the smaller Tier 3 route for an extra weekly session in Grades 5-6.
05Request the written service tier and schedule; FOCUS does not automatically place a student in later Honors or AP courses.
06If challenging a decision, begin with the gifted-program supervisor and then the assistant superintendent before using the Board complaint route.
