01

Who and which grades

Published coverageGrades 9-12 academies, advanced courses, and enrichment organizations

02

How students are considered

Published processTeachers recommend courses and special programs; counselors and administrators review grades and standardized scores. The district also uses placement assessments, successful completion of prerequisites, honor-society application criteria, and Academy applications. Invitations or access are therefore program-specific rather than controlled by one districtwide gifted score.

03

What service can look like

Published modelStudents may apply to Arts, Biomedical Science, Business, Computer Science and Engineering, or Education Academies. The district also lists advanced coursework, academic clubs, honor societies, Vox Auri audition choir, and related programs. Each Academy carries its own required course sequence or completion expectations, so placement should be reviewed track by track.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01Choose the specific Academy, advanced course, honor society, audition group, or academic club before reviewing eligibility.
02Before December, ask for the current application or recommendation calendar and all required components.
03Request the exact grades, standardized scores, placement assessment, prerequisites, teacher input, and application criteria used for that option.
04For an Academy, compare the complete required course and credit sequence with the student's four-year plan.
05Keep proof of application submission and ask when the district will communicate the decision.
06Direct a procedural noncompliance complaint in writing to the curriculum office, while treating an individual placement dispute as a separate issue.
