Colts Neck uses an annually reviewed, multiple-measure K-8 process. Kindergarten enrichment begins in winter, elementary invitations are made in early fall with winter re-evaluation, and middle-school ELA placement is determined in summer alongside advanced mathematics, art, and music options.

Published processThe district uses developmentally appropriate multiple measures that may include achievement tests, grades, student performance or products, intelligence testing, and parent, student, or teacher recommendations. Elementary students exceeding grade-level expectations and showing ELA or mathematics strength are invited in early fall and reconsidered in winter. Middle-school ELA placement uses multiple measures of ELA performance in summer; mathematics uses multiple performance measures. The district also publishes a twice-exceptional identification route.
Published modelKindergarten receives winter advanced-mathematics enrichment. Grades 1-5 receive scheduled enrichment in ELA, mathematics, technology, STEM, and the arts; identified elementary students receive added challenge, interest exploration, and social-emotional growth opportunities. Grades 6-8 use clustered ELA enrichment, accelerated or advanced mathematics, and advanced art and music opportunities.
