Cinnaminson universally screens Grade 2 in October and Grade 5 in spring for Project Challenge. CogAT results determine who proceeds to SAGES-3, while transfer students have rolling screens. The broader continuum includes classroom enrichment, weekly pull-out, advanced reading and mathematics, and high-school Honors and AP.

How students are considered
Published processAll Grade 2 students take an October CogAT screener; students identified as possibly gifted proceed to SAGES-3 and welcome letters are sent in November. All Grade 5 students take CogAT in April or May; an age stanine of 8 or above leads to a summer SAGES-3 invitation, with decisions emailed in August. The district may also consider achievement, recommendations, evidence of performance, checklists, and portfolios. Transfer students are screened after marking periods 1 and 3.
What service can look like
Published modelK-1 students receive whole-class and small-group enrichment. Grades 2-5 Project Challenge is a weekly school-day pull-out emphasizing research, creativity, leadership, and problem solving; Project Challenge continues through Grade 8 with special projects and competitions. Separate pathways include advanced mathematics in Grades 5-8, advanced reading in Grades 6-8, and Honors or AP courses in Grades 9-12.

02For Grade 5, watch email after spring CogAT results; age stanine 8 or above is the published invitation threshold for summer SAGES-3 testing.
03Request the complete evidence profile, including CogAT, SAGES-3, achievement, recommendations, performance evidence, checklists, or portfolios used in the decision.
04If transferring into the district, notify the school promptly and ask for the next first- or third-marking-period screening window.
05After placement, confirm whether the child receives weekly Project Challenge, advanced reading, advanced mathematics, or another service in the continuum.
06To challenge a decision, write to the building principal and provide focused new evidence; the district may use I&RS review, rescreening, or a portfolio.
