How students are considered
Published processTeachers nominate students during the school year and spring assessment determines eligibility. The district uses CogAT verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal subtests; current reading level; mathematics and English-language-arts classroom performance; and a teacher rating scale. The public document does not state a single universal cut score, so families should request the completed local profile and decision rationale.
What service can look like
Published modelAll Kindergarten students receive a seven-week problem-based-learning cycle. Identified Grades 1-5 students meet about one hour weekly in PEP across three 10-12 week mathematics, engineering, and language-arts cycles. Grades 6-8 ELPAT meets weekly for student-led inquiry, research, product creation, and a Genius Hour Fair. Grades 9-12 use Honors and AP pathways described in the high-school program of studies.

01Before April 15, ask the classroom teacher whether the child will be nominated for following-year PEP or ELPAT and obtain confirmation when the nomination is submitted.
02Ask for the spring assessment schedule and which CogAT, reading-level, mathematics, ELA, and teacher-rating evidence will be used.
03After review, request the written eligibility result and completed evidence profile because the district does not publish a single qualifying score.
04If placed in PEP, confirm the weekly hour and three curricular cycles; if placed in ELPAT, confirm the weekly inquiry schedule and Genius Hour expectations.
05If there is disagreement, follow the published resolution sequence: G&T teacher, building administration, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, then Superintendent.
06Use the statutory complaint route only for alleged program noncompliance, not as a substitute for resolving an individual service decision.
