Gifted and Talented Program,
made navigable.

Absecon provides interdisciplinary whole-school enrichment in Grades K-3, then uses universal Grade 3 InView screening, a teacher profile, and individual WISC-V assessment to identify students for its Grades 4-8 Gifted and Talented program. A separate secondary route covers students who were not assessed in Grade 3.

01

Who and which grades

Published coverageK-3 whole-school enrichment; identified Gifted and Talented services in Grades 4-8

02

How students are considered

Published processAll Grade 3 students take InView. A local-peer Cognitive Skills Index at or above the 90th percentile leads to a teacher confirmation profile and WISC-V. Admission requires a local-peer WISC-V Full Scale IQ at or above the 97th percentile plus a teacher profile score of at least 42. A later referral starts with a teacher profile score of 42, followed during that school year by the same InView and WISC-V thresholds.

03

What service can look like

Published modelThe K-3 enrichment model includes English language arts, mathematics, and special areas for all students. The Grades 4-8 program targets spatial reasoning, analytical skills, and gifted or talented ability through interdisciplinary, process-, problem-solving-, and performance-based learning.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01For a Grade 3 student, ask the school for the universal InView date and when families will receive the Cognitive Skills Index result.
02If the local percentile is at least 90, confirm that the teacher profile is completed and ask when the individual WISC-V will be scheduled.
03For a student missed in Grade 3, ask the teacher or principal to begin the secondary route and document the teacher profile, InView, and WISC-V sequence.
04Request the written values used in the decision: local-peer InView percentile, teacher profile score, and local-peer WISC-V Full Scale IQ percentile.
05If admitted, ask the Gifted and Talented teacher to explain the interdisciplinary services, schedule, and evidence used for continuation.
06If performance concerns arise, request the written probation plan before any removal and retain the continuation and reinstatement criteria.
