Woodridge 68 universally screens Grades 2 and 6 and accepts family nominations for unserved students in Grades 3, 4, 5, and 7. Its current process publishes seasonal timing, locally normed multi-measure review, an appeal route, elementary engagement blocks, and junior-high advanced courses.

How students are considered
Published processAll Grades 2 and 6 students and nominated students take the aptitude screener in March or April. Families, peers, staff, and community members may nominate unserved students in Grades 3, 4, 5, and 7. Review combines aptitude, multiple achievement measures at or above the 93rd local percentile, observation, propensity, iReady, and home and school ratings before a trained panel decides need and placement.
What service can look like
Published modelGrades 3-6 are cluster grouped and receive classroom differentiation plus a 50-minute Gifted Differentiated Engagement Block focused on interdisciplinary inquiry and problem-based learning. Grade 6 students needing mathematics service also receive depth and complexity in advanced math. Grades 7-8 use subject-specific Advanced ELA/Social Studies, Advanced Science, and Advanced Math cohorts.

01For an unserved student in Grade 3, 4, 5, or 7, obtain the current nomination form when the window opens and return it to the building gifted specialist.
02Ask the specialist which aptitude, iReady, propensity, achievement, PETS observation, and home and school rating evidence will be included under local and subgroup norms.
03Complete the home rating scale with specific examples and request the trained panel's written placement explanation.
04If evidence appears missing, submit the appeal form by its stated date; note that the current site says no further 2026-27 appeals are being accepted.
05Confirm the 50-minute elementary engagement block, advanced Grade 6 math support, or exact Grade 7-8 advanced course placement and annual Student Growth Plan.
