District 15 uses fall Grades 2-3 MAP results to determine February CogAT access, then ranks combined results for limited entry to the self-contained ATG program at Stuart R. Paddock School. The district also offers one-grade-ahead mathematics, middle-school advanced courses, and separate early-entrance and acceleration routes.

How students are considered
Published processAll Grade 2 and Grade 3 students take fall MAP Reading and Mathematics. A 95th national percentile score in both subjects automatically qualifies a student for February CogAT; a 95th percentile in one subject and at least the 90th in the other permits parent referral. Selection combines MAP with two CogAT subtests—verbal and quantitative, or nonverbal instead of verbal for students not yet English-proficient. The top 25 Grade 2 and top 10 Grade 3 combined scores receive voluntary ATG offers.
What service can look like
Published modelMost advanced needs are addressed through rigorous classroom curriculum, individualized projects, and strategic groups. Students needing more receive Accelerated Math one grade above their current grade. The most advanced learners may voluntarily transfer to grade-level ATG classrooms at Stuart R. Paddock for Grades 3-5, with flexible grouping across teachers. Grades 6-8 offer advanced mathematics and accelerated English and language arts under separate placement criteria.

01Save both fall MAP national percentile reports for a Grade 2 or 3 student and check the two-subject threshold before the November 1 referral cutoff.
02If both subjects are at or above the 95th percentile, confirm automatic February CogAT registration; if only one is at 95th and the other is at least 90th, submit the parent referral.
03For a private or homeschooled District 15 resident, file the district application by November 1 and confirm the assigned test location.
04After CogAT, request the combined MAP-and-CogAT ranking result and remember that admission is cohort-limited rather than based on a single fixed qualifying score.
05If offered ATG, compare the Paddock transfer and flexible self-contained model with the home school's one-grade-ahead mathematics option before accepting.
06Plan again before middle school because ATG does not guarantee advanced Grade 6-8 placement; ask for each subject's separate criteria and schedule.
