How students are considered

Published processA nomination form goes to the gifted education teacher. A team reviews existing information and decides whether formal evaluation is warranted; a credentialed evaluator then tests, and an eligibility team applies Georgia criteria. Students qualify through the psychometric route or by meeting criteria in three of four areas: mental ability, achievement, creativity, and motivation. Qualifying evidence must be current within two years and cannot be reused across categories.

03

What service can look like

Published modelGilmer describes a comprehensive and sequential K-12 continuum intended to meet gifted learners' demonstrated academic and intellectual needs across core academics, the arts, and career-technical education. Families should use the current manual and school gifted teacher to identify the delivery model and schedule assigned to a specific student.

04Before testing, confirm whether the team is evaluating the psychometric route or the three-of-four multiple-criteria route and return any consent promptly.
05After the eligibility decision, request the written K-12 service model, subject areas, schedule, progress measures, and continuation requirements for the student.
