What the evidence confirms
Gifted & Talented / ST-ARTS
Clover School District serves academically gifted learners in accelerated language arts and mathematics and offers a separate artistic identification and enrichment pathway.
How services work: Grades 3–8 receive state-approved special or pull-out classes in language arts and/or mathematics, combining acceleration, enrichment, critical and creative thinking, problem solving, research, and independent study. ST-ARTS serves artistically talented learners.
How students are identified: All second-graders participate in universal screening. Families, educators, and administrators may also refer students in grades 2–7; a district team evaluates the state's reasoning, achievement, and intellectual or academic performance dimensions.

State context
South Carolina gifted and talented requirements
South Carolina requires every district to identify and serve academically and artistically gifted students, with statewide second-grade census testing and common eligibility dimensions.
For families: Academic eligibility generally requires qualifying evidence in two of three dimensions—aptitude, achievement, and performance—or the state's automatic high-composite aptitude route. Local service models and schedules vary by district.
