Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Halifax County is rebuilding an inclusive gifted continuum centered on equitable access, rigorous differentiation, creativity, and whole-child development.
How services work: K–2 nurture groups use thinking-skills and STEM activities; grades 3–8 add pull-out enrichment, projects, competitions, and clubs; grades 9–12 use consultation, advanced coursework, dual enrollment, and college-career support.
How students are identified: Universal screening occurs in grades 4, 6, and 9. School committees combine aptitude, achievement, grades, referrals, observations, performance tasks, work samples, and portfolios, with early K–3 monitoring and reassessment pathways.
