Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Ashe County develops gifted potential through K–2 talent development and a personalized K–12 continuum aligned to each learner's identification and needs.
How services work: Services may occur through cluster grouping, classroom inclusion, specialist pull-outs, dedicated enrichment periods, acceleration, projects, and advanced secondary pathways documented in a DEP or IDEP.
How students are identified: The district uses ongoing universal screening and multiple indicators. Educators, families, support staff, or students may refer; K–2 PETS activities, observations, performance, aptitude, achievement, and other evidence inform school-team review.
