Academically and Intellectually Gifted,
made navigable.

Ridgefield connects gifted identification to its MTSS enrichment pathway. Students generally complete several Tier 1+ enrichment cycles before an AIG referral, and referrals do not begin before Grade 2 or age 8.

Your starting checklist

Turn the published process into clear next steps.

Confirm current instructions with the district before submitting. Bloomfield does not predict placement or reproduce protected assessments.

01Ask the teacher and principal what Tier 1 enrichment is currently provided and whether a Grade 2-5 Tier 1+ plan is appropriate.
02Request written goals, differentiation-block services, and progress measures for each Tier 1+ enrichment cycle.
03Provide work, benchmarks, observations, and examples of advanced academic, intellectual, or creative need.
04After several cycles, ask the MTSS team whether the evidence supports AIG referral and what additional standardized or work evidence is required.
05If identified, document the sustained enrichment, advanced challenges, independent projects, differentiated pathway, and specialist support the student will receive.
