Clinton accepts gifted nominations from families, teachers, special-area teachers, and older students through January 31. The district screens intellectual ability and exceptional talent in music and visual arts using different evidence pathways.

How students are considered
Published processAll Grades 3 and 5 take OLSAT midyear. Follow-up intellectual review combines teacher Renzulli ratings, standardized testing, grades, and CogAT. Music review uses vocal, rhythmic, melodic-memory, and creative assessments; visual-art review uses performance tasks and a portfolio. A multidisciplinary PPT communicates results, and families may request a hearing if they disagree.
What service can look like
Published modelIdentified students receive an annually reviewed education plan. District policy provides classroom differentiation, advanced academic experiences, and enrichment opportunities for intellectual, creative, and specific academic strengths; some offerings may also include students who are not formally identified.

01Download the intellectual or artistic/musical nomination form and submit it to the school office by January 31.
02Identify the specific strength pathway and provide parent observations, classroom examples, portfolio work, or performance evidence.
03Return written consent promptly if the PPT recommends individual testing or further assessment.
04Ask which OLSAT, Renzulli, CogAT, grade, portfolio, audition, or performance evidence the team will use and when it will meet.
05Review the written identification explanation and annual plan; request the published hearing process if you disagree with the evaluation.
