Gifted Education & Advanced Academics
Roanoke City provides challenging and enriched opportunities for students identified in general intellectual or specific academic areas.
How services work: A combination of citywide and school-based programs supports advanced learning, supplemented by open-access AP courses and other advanced secondary options.
How students are identified: The locally approved 2024–2029 plan governs identification and services, with an explicit focus on finding students with potential across economic, cultural, disability, and language backgrounds.
