Gifted Education
Charlottesville uses a talent-development and push-in model to give all students regular access to advanced learning while identifying students for gifted services in English and mathematics.
How services work: Gifted resource teachers collaborate with classroom teachers and push differentiated instruction into general classrooms, developing creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving alongside advanced secondary coursework.
How students are identified: Every enrolled student in grades 3–11 is automatically referred each spring unless the family opts out. School committees take a holistic, multi-criteria approach using nationally normed assessment and achievement evidence.
