QUEST / Honors Gifted Programs
Sumter School District combines weekly elementary QUEST enrichment with subject-specific honors, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate placement for older gifted learners.
How services work: QUEST is a weekly pull-out for grades 2–5 offering personalized exploration and enrichment. Grades 6–12 receive advanced instruction through honors classes matched to identified strengths, with AP and IB options available; REACH provides artistically gifted programming.
How students are identified: All second-graders receive census testing, while grades K–8 receive MAP and grades 3–8 receive SC READY review. Administrators, families, teachers, and students can refer grades 3–9, and eligibility follows the state dimensions or automatic 96th-percentile aptitude composite.
