EAGLE Gifted and Talented
Lancaster County School District's EAGLE program challenges gifted learners through inquiry, complex thinking, research, problem solving, and self-directed learning, with a separate smARTS pathway.
How services work: The district publishes elementary, intermediate, middle-, and high-school gifted curricula using resources such as Junior Great Books, Project M3, STEAM, and Making Thinking Visible. Academic services are complemented by artistically gifted smARTS opportunities and advanced secondary coursework.
How students are identified: Academic placement follows South Carolina's universal second-grade screening and multiple-dimension eligibility rules, with later referrals available. The district separately accepts academic GT and smARTS referrals and publishes parent guidance for its screening and placement process.
