Challenge (Gifted and Talented)
Greenville County Schools serves state-identified gifted learners through the elementary Challenge program and specialized secondary coursework.
How services work: Grade 3 Challenge is an interdisciplinary pull-out for at least 125 minutes weekly and grades 4–5 receive at least 200 minutes; middle school uses gifted or honors English classes, and high school provides honors-level services and advanced pathways.
How students are identified: All second-graders receive CogAT and Iowa screening under South Carolina rules, with additional opportunities in grades 3–12. Eligibility uses qualifying evidence from state aptitude, achievement, and performance dimensions, including an automatic high-composite aptitude pathway.
