Florence School District 1

Academic Gifted and FAME Arts Programs

Florence 1 Schools combines state-required academic gifted services with FAME, a set of visual-art and music programs for artistically exceptional students.

How services work: Horizons serves rising grades 4–5 in visual art, H2 serves rising grades 6–8, and DOME offers honors ensembles, seminars, master classes, recitals, and performance opportunities to exceptional musicians across grades. Academic gifted service details should be confirmed with the district.

How students are identified: Visual-art candidates may be nominated by an art teacher, administrator, or guardian and are evaluated through artwork samples, a teacher recommendation, student questionnaire, and district rubric. Academic identification follows the statewide screening dimensions.

Florence School District 3

Talented and Gifted (TAG)

Florence County School District Three provides school-based academic TAG services and advanced middle-school English language arts and mathematics coursework.

How services work: Each elementary school houses an elementary TAG program. Middle schools offer TAG English language arts and mathematics and may provide English 1 and Algebra 1 for accelerated credit; the program continues through grade 12 under the district framework.

How students are identified: Students are identified in grades 2–10 using state criteria. Eligibility requires qualifying evidence in two of three dimensions: aptitude, achievement, and performance task or qualifying secondary GPA.

Florence School District 2

Gifted and Talented

Florence School District Two administers South Carolina's gifted identification assessments and provides locally arranged services for students who qualify under the statewide framework.

How services work: The district confirms its gifted testing sequence but does not publish a current grade-by-grade service model on the reviewed pages. Families should ask the district which subjects, settings, and schedules are available at their school.

Florence School District 5

Gifted and Talented

Florence School District Five provides academic and artistic gifted services through pull-out classes, honors courses, and gifted art.

How services work: Published options include pull-out instruction, honors coursework, and gifted art. Artistically gifted services are available in grades 7–8, while academic identification and service may continue from grades 3–12 through graduation.
