Gifted and Talented Education
Beaufort County School District offers accelerated academic classes and a broad secondary continuum for learners identified under South Carolina's gifted criteria.
How services work: Grades 3–8 receive accelerated gifted language arts and mathematics, with advanced science and social studies available in middle school. High-school options include honors, Advanced Placement, dual enrollment, and International Baccalaureate, supplemented by enrichment, mentorship, and acceleration opportunities.
How students are identified: The district follows South Carolina's multiple-criteria process using reasoning ability, academic achievement, and intellectual or academic performance. Statewide second-grade CogAT and Iowa screening provides a universal entry point, with later referral and review opportunities.
