Union County matches advanced learning services to student needs using multiple indicators of aptitude, achievement, and classroom performance.
How services work: K–3 talent development leads to grades 3–5 pull-outs, small groups, extensions, and differentiated reading or mathematics; later services include advanced classes, compacting, acceleration, honors, AP, IB, dual enrollment, and independent study.
How students are identified: Families, educators, school staff, or students may refer, and the district universally screens in grades 3–7. A comprehensive profile combines aptitude, achievement, classroom performance, and other indicators under board-approved criteria.
