Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Tyrrell County combines early nurturing, universal screening at transition points, open referral, and personalized planning for gifted and high-potential learners.
How services work: DEPs may include differentiated classroom work, small-group critical and creative thinking, enrichment, performance tasks, portfolio development, acceleration, advanced coursework, transition supports, and regular progress reporting.
How students are identified: CogAT or another aptitude measure is given universally at the end of grade 2 and start of grade 6. Referrals are accepted throughout K–12, and teams combine tests, grades, benchmarks, observations, rating scales, work, interviews, and portfolios.
