Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)

Transylvania County uses ongoing talent scouting, universal screening, and individualized services to recognize giftedness as students' strengths and readiness develop over time.

How services work: AIG specialists coordinate push-in support, clusters, intervention and enrichment blocks, advanced or accelerated curriculum, extension, flexible grouping, differentiated instruction, quarterly K–8 progress reports, and advanced secondary planning.

How students are identified: All third-graders receive CogAT screening, followed by universal review of state tests and college-readiness measures. Families and educators may refer K–12 and students may self-refer in high school; teams use multiple quantitative and qualitative measures.
