Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Stokes County uses multi-tiered identification and student-specific service planning to meet gifted learners' academic, intellectual, social, and emotional needs.
How services work: Options include flexible and cluster grouping, classroom stations, compacting, enrichment units, independent study, cross-age grouping, subject or grade acceleration, shadowing, multimedia and science experiences, advanced courses, and counseling.
How students are identified: Universal CogAT screening uses verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal domains. Year-round referrals from educators, families, or students combine aptitude, achievement, observations, classroom performance, portfolios, and other qualitative evidence for committee review.
