Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Stanly County provides an inclusive K–12 gifted continuum built around universal screening, school-team review, differentiated instruction, and advanced-course access.
How services work: Annual DEPs support classroom differentiation, enrichment, specialist services, flexible grouping, acceleration, advanced middle-school learning, honors, AP, dual enrollment, online study, and extracurricular opportunities.
How students are identified: Screening begins with third-grade achievement review, all fourth-graders take CogAT, and grades 3–8 are reviewed annually. Any student, family, community member, teacher, or staff member may refer, with school teams using typical and alternative evidence.
