Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Scotland County identifies giftedness, nurtures advanced potential, and provides challenging, collaborative learning designed to expand equitable access.
How services work: Student DEPs may include small-group differentiation, PETS, enrichment, problem-based learning, flexible or cluster grouping, accelerated content, independent study, advanced coursework, extracurricular programs, and social-emotional support.
How students are identified: All second-graders receive CogAT screening and K–12 achievement data are reviewed annually. Referrals remain open year-round, and teams combine aptitude, achievement, observations, gifted rating scales, interests, motivation, portfolios, and performance tasks.
