Rowan-Salisbury combines early talent nurturing, identified elementary services, advanced secondary pathways, and enrichment opportunities under its 2025–2028 local plan.

Kannapolis City Schools

Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)

Kannapolis City Schools pairs universal nonverbal screening, recurring academic review, referral, and talent development with differentiated services across K–12.

How services work: DEPs may include PETS, pull-outs, problem- and project-based learning, flexible grouping, compacting, advanced mathematics and ELA, independent study, honors, AP, Career and College Promise, mentoring, and internships.

How students are identified: All third-graders take the NNAT in spring, and grades 3–8 are screened annually using academic flags such as strong EOG performance. K–2 and 9–12 may be screened by request, with TerraNova, rating scales, classroom data, and teacher evidence supplementing testing.
