Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)

Polk County offers a comprehensive gifted continuum joining classroom differentiation and individual planning with enrichment, acceleration, leadership, and college preparation.

How services work: Grade-banded DEPs may include flexible grouping, specialist support, advanced content, acceleration, technology, honors, AP, dual enrollment, NC Virtual courses, competitions, summer programs, leadership, and college advising.

How students are identified: K–12 screening and referral use multiple quantitative and qualitative indicators, including aptitude, achievement, academic performance, classroom evidence, observations, recommendations, and student interests, reviewed by school AIG teams.
