Pitt County's current local plan provides a K–12 continuum for students demonstrating advanced aptitude, achievement, or ability, including support for underrepresented, highly gifted, multilingual, and twice-exceptional learners.

How services work: Services include K–2 enrichment, district-created gifted curriculum in grades 3–8, reading and mathematics resource services, cluster grouping, advanced courses, enrichment, and high-school college-readiness support.

How students are identified: Universal screening and referrals are available across grade levels. Each school's Needs Determination Team reviews learner evidence, determines whether further assessment is needed, and recommends an instructional placement under consistent district guidelines.
