Academically & Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Person County combines early talent development, universal screening, and differentiated service planning to recognize advanced strengths throughout K–12.
How services work: K–2 learners receive complex talent-development tasks and classroom differentiation; older students receive services aligned to academic or intellectual identification, advanced-course readiness, and individual learning needs.
How students are identified: All second-graders complete open-ended advanced-thinking tasks and a spring CogAT universal screen. Reviews also occur at key transitions using achievement, growth projections, classroom grades, and other evidence, with referrals possible across K–12.
