Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)
Pamlico County uses universal screening, early talent development, and multiple identification pathways to expand equitable access to advanced learning.
How services work: Options include talent-development clusters, flexible and cluster grouping, pull-outs, WIN enrichment, compacting, accelerated middle-school courses, STEM, coding, robotics, Socratic seminars, competitions, and advanced secondary study.
How students are identified: All students receive ongoing AIMSWEB screening, with CogAT in grade 3. School MTSS teams combine aptitude, achievement, classroom performance, literacy and numeracy data, observations, rating scales, interests, motivation, work, and portfolios.
